Mums Matter is an organisation dedicated to offering community based peer support to mums currently suffering from Perinatal mental health problems, such as Post-natal and Ante-natal depression. We provide online, individual, and group support using our own experiences as well as striving to break down the stigma surrounding maternal mental health.

Mums Matter will also provide education to health professionals from the view of the service user and campaign for equality in maternal mental health provision across all NHS Trusts.

Our Aims and Objectives:

·        To provide a safe and welcoming group support facility for mums to reduce their feelings of isolation, often associated with postnatal mental illness.

·         To campaign for the provision of dedicated perinatal psychiatry services within all NHS Trust areas, including sufficient availability of inpatient facilities and perinatal community mental health teams.

·         To fight the stigma surrounding perinatal mental health problems and challenge the perceptions of the public.

·         To educate health professionals and other professionals who work with families on issues related to perinatal mental health problems from the view point of service users given that they are 'experts by experience'.
